We assume the stability of the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs b
oson field under radiative corrections in the context of the standard
electroweak theory. We find that this theory behaves as a good effecti
ve model already at cutoff energy scares as low as 0.7 TeV. This stabi
lity criterion allows us to predict m(H) = 318 +/- 13 GeV for the Higg
s boson mass.
