One-dimensional (1D) magnetic properties in the charge-ordered phase of Yb4
As3 has been studied by polarized-neutron diffraction, Field-induced magnet
ic moment on the 1D Yb3+-ion chain under the field of 7T parallel to the ch
ain behaves as that of the spin-1/2 ID Heisenberg antiferromagnet with g(pa
rallel to) = 3.0. In the case of the field perpendicular to the chain, we o
bserved not only the same behavior of induced moments with g(perpendicular
to) similar or equal to 1.2 but also a remarkable enhancement below about 1
0K. The experimentally observed ID magnetization can be reproduced well by
the theory based on Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction inducing effective st
