A description is given of pulsed ferromagnetic subsidiary resonance experim
ents in a YIG sphere at room temperature. Beyond the Suhl instability thres
hold. evidences were found for the elusive alternating periodic-chaotic seq
uence. The spin-wave self-oscillations have recently been characterized thr
ough one-dimensional return maps. Here it is shown that the observed scenar
io is also in good qualitative agreement with results from numerical simula
tions with a standard two-mode microscopic model. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science
