Abstract
We observed local magnetization in crystals of Pr1-xCaxMnO3 (x = 0.30) and La2-2xSr1+2xMn2O7 (x = 0.45) by magneto-optical measurements. In both cryst als, spatial variation of magnetization was observed at the temperature reg ion where canted antiferromagnetic phases had been suggested by neutron mea surements. Our results indicate possible phase separation into ferromagneti c and antiferromagnetic phases with semi-macroscopic length scale instead o f the canted ones. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science BN.
