The influence of hydrostatic pressure on electrical resistance of a perovsk
ite manganese oxide (La0.1Ce0.4Sr0.5)MnO3 has been investigated under press
ures up to 1.8 GPa in the temperature range of 77-320 K. With application o
f pressure, Curie temperature (Tc) increases at a rate of dT(C) /dp = + 1.9
K/GPa. It is also found that the coefficient of - log T term originated fro
m Kondo-like effect decreases with increasing pressure and the resistance m
aximum temperature (T-max) shifts largely to lower temperature at a rate of
dT(max)/dp = - 86 KGPa. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
