Abstract
Using a theoretical model. described by a Hamiltonian which includes the cr ystalline electrical field and exchange interaction. the magnetocaloric pot ential for the series RAl2 (R = Pr, Nd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, and Tm) is determin ed. The existence of an anomalous peak was predicted in magnetic entropy ch ange, with applied magnetic field, for Er compound. (C) 2001 Elsevier Scien ce B.V. All rights reserved.
