Abstract
The present study considered the reliability and validity of the 78-item re vised version of the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire, a multidimens ional instrument aimed at measuring multicultural effectiveness among two s tudent samples (N = 210). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses on s elf- and other ratings for an original set of 138 items revealed five relia ble factors underlying the questionnaire: Cultural Empathy, Openmindedness, Emotional Stability, Social Initiative, and Flexibility. In addition, init ial support for the validity of the instrument was obtained by showing conv ergence between self and other ratings on the scales. Moreover, the instrum ent was clearly able to discriminate between students with and without expl icit international inspirations. The dimension of Cultural Empathy was leas t well supported.
