In this paper, dynamic behavior of a delaminated composite beam is studied.
In particular, the effects of nonlinearity due to restriction on the axial
stretch of the delaminated segments and nonlinearity due to the deflection
-amplitude-dependent axial interaction are studied. The restriction to the
axial stretch is due to the rest of the beam in which the delaminated segme
nt is embedded. Perturbation methods are used to study nonlinear normal mod
es. The effects of nonlinearity on the spatial variation of the normal mode
s and the amplitude-dependent natural frequencies are discussed.
