We report a case of matched unrelated bone marrow transplant (BMT) in a mor
bidly obese patient with acute myeloblastic leukaemia. The challenges prese
nted in the management of this case included the calculation of chemotherap
y and radiotherapy doses and the acute presentation of obstructive sleep ap
nea. Despite these difficulties, an ultimately successful outcome was obtai
ned, indicating that although associated with increased risk of peri-transp
lant morbidity, obesity need not represent a contraindication to BMT.
