Abstract
Novel functional proteins have been generated by the transfer of activ e sites to structurally homologous proteins and to new structural cont exts. The most successful examples of these approaches succeeded in pr oviding effective new tools in biochemistry and protein chemistry and in suggesting new models in drug design.
