Cdb. Burt et Dk. Forsyth, Relationships between supervisor behavior, family support and perceived time management ability, NZ J PSYCH, 30(1), 2001, pp. 4-8
The effect of work and family environment on perceived time management abil
ity was investigated. One hundred and sixty-four managers and administrativ
e staff completed scales measuring supervisor behavior, family support, and
perceptions of time management ability. Aspects of supervisory style in th
e areas of task clarification were found to be significantly related to per
ceived time management ability. Family support, in terms of emotional suste
nance was also found to predict employee persistence with work related task
s. The results are discussed in terms of the possible influence of supervis
ory style on employee's ability to adopt, and to continue to use, time mana
gement behaviors.
