Abstract
Replacing the sugar-phosphodiester backbone of nucleic acids with a pyrroli dine-amide backbone results in an oligonucleotide mimic POM 1 which binds w ith high affinity and specificity to complementary DNA and RNA. Unlike othe r modified oligonucleotides, PONT binds much more rapidly to single strande d RNA than DNA.
