Va. Zhorin et al., Formation of the crystalline phase of high-density polyethylene in the presence of metal oxides under plastic deformation at high pressure, POLYM SCI B, 43(7-8), 2001, pp. 199-201
The formation of a crystalline phase of HDPE in its blends with various met
al oxides after application of high-pressure plastic shear deformation was
studied by differential scanning calorimetry. The melting of HDPE in the HD
PE-metal oxide blends subjected to the high-pressure deformation is charact
erized by two neighboring DSC peaks. The total specific enthalpy of HDPE me
lting in the blends was as high as 200-270 J/g. Upon the repeated heating,
the melting of HDPE in the tested samples shows only a single DSC peak, the
specific enthalpy of HDPE melting being only slightly lower than that meas
ured during the primary heating.
