Herbivorous dinosaurs from the Late Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) of Guimarota, P
ortugal. Proceedings of the Geologists' Association, 112, 275-283. Herbivor
ous dinosaurs from the Kimmeridgian of Guimarota (Leiria, Portugal) include
a probable brachiosaurid sauropod, the small hypsilophodontid Phyllodon he
nkeli, and a possible dryosaurid or camptosaurid iguanodontian. The taxonom
ic composition of the fauna is in general accordance with that of other Lat
e Jurassic dinosaur faunas, especially with that of the Morrison Formation
of North America. All the remains from Guimarota represent relatively small
animals and, in comparison to the number of theropod specimens found, herb
ivorous dinosaurs are strongly under-represented in the fauna. This observa
tion can probably be explained by transport sorting and differential preser
vation potential of the teeth of different dinosaur groups.
