Abstract
Drawing upon the work of such authors as Thomas Luckmann and Daniele Hervie u-Leger, the author seeks to develop implications for the field of Christia n religious education in a postmodern era of "shrinking transcendence and e xpanding religion". Beginning with an understanding of what it means to be human, the meaning of religion, and the aims of education, the author explo res what the relation of humanity, religion, and education might be in an e ra of the delocalization of authority and power of traditional religious in stitutions - and what this may portend for the future of educational minist ry.
