ANORECTAL MALIGNANT-MELANOMA - REPORT OF A CASE

A 74-year-old woman presented with anal bleeding and a protuberant mas s. A biopsy of the mass revealed the proliferation of spindle-shaped c ells,vith melanin pigments, and an abdominoperineal resection was perf ormed, the histology of which confirmed malignant melanoma, Surgery wa s absolutely noncurative because massive metastases were encountered i n the pelvic and paraaortic lymph nodes. However, postoperative chemot herapy, composed of dacarbazine (DTIC), vincristine (VCR), and nimusti ne hydrochloride (ACNU), achieved satisfactory results, The patient ha s been well without any evidence of recurrence for more than 3 years.
