N. Tanaka et al., Ellagic acid formation from galloylglucoses by a crude enzyme of Cornus capitata adventitious roots, BIOS BIOT B, 65(8), 2001, pp. 1869-1871
The aqueous extract of acetone powder, which had been prepared from Cornus
capitata 'Mountain Moon' adventitious roots, cultured in MS medium with a h
igh concentration of Cu2+(10 muM), showed strong oxidative activity toward
galloylglucoses. A compound formed from galloyglucoses, such as 1,2,3,4,6-p
enta-O-galloyl-beta -D-glucose and tannic acid, by the reaction with the cr
ude enzyme solution of the adventitious roots was isolated and characterize
d as ellagic acid by spectrometric analyses.
