Abstract
A double coupling system, which couples metabolism of glucose and transacet ylation, is a unique procedure for the production of acetic esters. In the novel coupling system described in this article, acetyl coenzyme A (acetyl- CoA) was supplied via metabolism of both glucose and exogenous saturated fa tty acids. While short and middle chain fatty acids having C4-8 were very b iotoxic, myristic acid (C-14) was effectively used as a source of acetyl-Co A.
