Abstract
We review some current work on conformal anomalies in general dimensio n from the geometrical point of view, with emphasis on open ''constrai ned dynamics'' problems that it raises. Some remarks in the same vein are also made about D=11 supergravity and open ''quantum gravity'' pro blems.
