Abstract
[PdI(C6H3Me2-2,6)(bpy)] reacts with excess amounts of dimethyl acetylenedic arboxylate to produce [PdI{CZ=CZ-(C6H3Me2-2,6)}(bpy)] (2, Z = COOMe) and [P dI{CZ=CZ-CZ=CZ(C6H3Me2-2,6)}(bpy)] (3). Crystallographic study revealed the molecular structures of 2 and 3 the latter of which has an s-trans dienyl ligand.
