The present investigation aims at the systematic search for long phosphores
cence materials by the assist of combinatorial chemistry method, Four triva
lent rare earth elements such as Dy, Nd, Pr, and Ce were introduced into Sr
Al2O4:Eu2+ to constitute appropriate trap levels. The quaternary library wa
s achieved by using a tetrahedron-type composition array, and then the long
phosphorescence was examined. Another finer screening was also performed b
ased on the result from the quaternary system to search for an optimum comp
osition. On the other hand, the long decay curves were analyzed based on bo
