Abstract
This review summarises patents claiming beta -lactam antibacterials publish ed from January 1999 to March 2001. The majority in the patents described i n this review disclose chemistry and biological evaluation of novel cephalo sporin and carbapenem derivatives. In addition, many patents reporting chem ical processes and pharmaceutical formulations of known P-lactam antibiotic s have also been published.
