Abstract
Reduced glass containing high concentration of 100% ferrous cations of tota l iron content was easily, obtained by melting a solid-solid mixture withou t the need of a controlled gas atmosphere. The procedure focused on melting a mixture of a glass and an organic hydrocarbon, namely C6H12O6-1H(2)O. Th e present procedure also facilitated the precipitation of ferrimagnetic mag netite phase within the glass matrix without the need of a special heat tre atment routine while preserving the original batch morphology.
