E. Steiner et al., Perineal excision of a large angiomyxoma in a young woman following magnetic resonance and angiographic imaging, GYNECOL ONC, 82(3), 2001, pp. 568-570
Background. Aggressive angiomyxomas are rare, arise from connective tissue
of the perineum or the lower pelvis, and affect predominantly young women.
Case. We describe an unusual case of aggressive angiomyxoma in which the pe
rineal approach was possible owing to MRI scanning and selective angiograph
y indications.
Conclusion. In cases of large aggressive angiomyxomas these diagnostic proc
edures should make it possible to decide which operative route might be bes
t for the patient. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
