Abstract
The tetrabutylammonium salts of 1,3-dialkyl-6-methyl-5-nitrouracils reacted with reductive alkylating agents, p-nitrobenzyl chloride and 2,2-dinitropr opane, by electron transfer coupling reactions to yield new potentially act ive and highly functionalized uracil derivatives.
