An overview on the variation of the elastic stiffness constants of brass as
a function of temperature, near the structural transition at T-c = 468 deg
reesC from an ordered beta ' -phase to disordered beta -phase is presented
in this report. Also, the variation of elastic stiffness Constants c(11) an
d c ' (11) (= c(11) + c(12) + 2c(44)) of brass, measured using the coherent
pulse/cw' technique has been reported. A simple modification of the techni
que has been made for the detection of the resonance frequencies in a sampl
e of relatively small size.
