Abstract
In this paper, we simulate overwrite in a phase change recording disk and s tudy the overwrite characteristics at high velocities (data rates). An abso rption controlled disk is used and overwrite jitter is seen to increase wit h velocity. A modified multipulse scheme with a lower power in the first pu lse of the multipulse is proposed for high velocities and it is shown that using this, the overwrite jitter can be reduced.
