This paper analyzes the lap-joint corrosion susceptibility of steel with fo
ur different types of protective metallic coatings (hot-dip galvanized, gal
vannealed, electrogalvanized, and 55% Al-Zn). Measurements are made using e
lectrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and current electrochemical noi
se with specially designed sensors. The results obtained indicate the impor
tance of the crevice water retention for determining the risk of corrosion
of lapped parts.
