Abstract
ZSM-5 zeolite films were prepared from nanosized zeolite having 200 nm part icles by controlling the drying and dispersion processes. The effects of so lid content, drying temperature and solvent on film formation were evaluate d. The optimum solid content and drying temperature were 0.1-0.2 wt.% and 8 0-100 degreesC, respectively. The important steps for the formation of zeol ite film were the preparing the nanosized particles and the dispersing them in the polar media (dielectric constant: >30 epsilon) because polarity aff ected the solvent-induced modification of zeolite particles. The specific m orphologies of the prepared zeolite films were observed successfully by sca nning electron microscopy (SEM). The formation mechanism of the zeolite fil m was proposed based on the micrographical analysis. (C) 2001 Elsevier Scie nce B.V. All rights reserved.
