NO dispersed VUV-fluorescence excitation (lambda (fl) = 134-152 mn) was mea
sured as a function of the exciting-photon energy,between 16.9 and 19.6 eV
using monochromatized synchrotron radiation with a bandwidth of 6.5 meV. A
two-dimensional fluorescence excitation spectrum was obtained, where the in
tensity is plotted as a function of both fluorescence wavelength and exciti
ng-photon energy. Fluorescence from NO+ A (1)Pi (v = 0, 1, 2) vibronic leve
ls and fluorescence from excited dissociation fragments N I (3s P-2(J)) was
observed simultaneously. Fragment state selective predissociation and auto
ionization of the NO: (c (3)Pi) 3p pi (v = 0) and (C (3)Pi) 3p sigma (v = 0
) Rydberg states were observed simultaneously.
