Abstract
Tributyl phosphate was used in reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel in the Pu rex process. The amount of uranium retained in the organic phase depends on the type of TBP/diluent. Destruction of spent TBP is of high interest in w aste management. The use of the oxidative degradation of TBP diluted with k erosene, carbon tetrachloride, benzene and toluene using potassium permanga nate as oxidant was carried out to produce stable inorganic dry particle re sidue which is then immobilized in different matrices. The different factor s affecting the destruction of spent waste were investigated. The uptake an d decontamination factor for both Eu-152,Eu-154 and Hf-181 and the analysis of the final product have been studied.
