Transesophageal echocardiography is a very useful technique in studyin
g thoracic aorta diseases, particularly aortic dissection and aortic i
ntramural hematoma. In this report, we describe a case of aortic intra
mural hematoma after balloon angioplasty of a recoarctation. This case
illustrates the importance of transesophageal echocardiography in the
diagnosis and subsequent management of possible complications followi
ng this technique.
