Abstract
The trend in beamline design has been to systems of greater complexity and cost, albeit with very large increases in performance. Here we present a de sign that attempts to simplify the system to a minimum, while preserving ex tremely high performance. This is achieved through placement of all optics close to the source inside the shield wall, the use of a tangentially bent 2 crystal monochromator, and a 1:1 focusing toroidal mirror.
