It was prepared benzene-2,1-diazoquinon-4-sulphonated acid by diazotization
of 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonated acid. The NMR, IR, UV-VIS spectra recording
of this substance have been furnished information about the existence of a
strong interaction between the diazo and carbonil groups. The thermal deco
mposition in water solution of this aromatic diazoquinone compound verifies
a first order kinetics. It was proposed a reaction mechanism which corespo
nds of a Wolff rearrangement with cicle contraction.
