The study was devoted to the investigation of the effect of several pre vul
canization retarders (inhibitors) in vulcanization of dienic elastomers usi
ng sulphur associated with a new accelerator with imidazoline structure. Ev
aluation of the efficiency of studied retarders was based on the following
characteristics: (i) scorching time T-5, determined by a Mooney viscometer
in the temperature range usual in rubber processing and (ii) scorching time
T-2, determined by Monsanto Rheometer in the temperature range usual in vu
lcanization process. At the same time, main physical characteristics (tensi
le characteristics) of vulcanizates have been determined. The obtained resu
lts allow a selection of the most appropriate retarder type for compounds b
ased on a given diene elastomer.
