The paper presents the complex problem of the relationship between the mole
cules of the chemist and their models, on the one hand, and the so-called a
esthetics of forms, on the other. In this sense, molecules with suggestive
names, such as Fullerenes, Superfullerenes, Keplerates, giant spheres and g
iant wheels are presented and discussed. The existence of connections betwe
en the beautiful molecules with high degree of symmetry, corresponding to t
he Platonic and Archimedean solids, and similar forms found in nature, in l
iving systems, are established.
