Abstract
The alkaline hydrolysis of quaternary phosphonium salts grafted on styrene- divinylbenzene copolymers has proved to be essential for understanding and explaning other reactions in which such compounds are involved as reactants (e.g. Wittig reactions), as phase transfer catalysts or as polycationic bi ocides.
