Robust GMR sensors for automotive applications

Magnetic sensors based on the giant magneto-resistance effect have been dev eloped for automotive applications. The sensor characteristics have been op timised with respect to two different applications, the angular position se nsing and the rotational speed sensing. The sensors show reliable performan ce at temperatures up to 170 degreesC and high stability even at high magne tic fields (< 200 kA/m). The sensor output exhibit a high linearity range, high sensitivity; and low hysteresis.
