Ae. Kontorovich et al., PHYSICOCHEMICAL CONDITIONS OF GRAPHITIZAT ION OF HYDROCARBON-BEARING ROCKS - AN EXAMPLE FROM THE WESTERN SIBERIAN PLATFORM, Geohimia, (6), 1997, pp. 563-570
Physicochemical modeling of interaction in the sedimentary rocks-strat
al water-hydrocarbons multisystem under the influence of magmatic heat
from trap intrusions showed that the graphitization of the host rocks
and the origin of graphite deposits in them occurred only if the rock
es contained hydrocarbons and the temperatures of contact katagenesis
did not exceed 700 degrees C. The sedimentary rocks bear a specific as
semblage of newly formed minerals, and considerable concentrations of
aromatic compounds formed in the hydrocarbon-bearing fluids, At such c
onditions, graphitization is an indicator of complex physicochemical p
rocesses of contact metamorphism and katagenesis, which occurred at de
pth under the effect of the basic intrusions.
