Abstract
When the defence response of the body to infectious bacteria fails, septic shock ensues with hypotension and death. RPPGF, (1-5)-bradykinin, was until recently considered to be an inactive metabolite of bradykinin. in an anim al model of septicaemia (lipopolysaccharide administration to rats), RPPGF is protective, and can even prolong life. RPPGF, or stable mimetics, have p otential in the treatment of septic shock.
