The static magnetic birefringence (SMB) of copper and zinc- ferrite ionic m
agnetic fluids (IMFs) were investigated within the oscillating dipole-inter
action anisotropy concept. The model was extended to include the magnetic t
exture of the contributing particle agglomerates and the field dependence o
f the magnetic permeability. The SNIB data of samples containing particle c
oncentration in the range of 1 x 10(16) to 5 X 10(16) particle/cm(3) were s
uccessfully described.
