Abstract
Phase relations of the ternary system SrO-TiO2-B2O3 have been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). This system can be divided into eight th ree-phase regions. Seven binary compounds are observed in this system, whic h are SrTiO4, Sr3Ti2O7, SrTiO3,, Sr3B2O6, Sr2B2O5, SrB2O4, SrB4O7, but no t ernary compound is found. The Rietveld refinement method was used to determ ine the structure of the compound Sr3B2O6 and found it to be calcium-orthob orate structure. The cell parameters are determined to be a=b=9.0405(2) Ang strom, c=12.5665(2) Angstrom, and Sr. B, and O occupy the 18e. 12c, 36f pos itions, respectively. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
