Abstract
Four protoberberine alkaloids, berberine, palmatine, dehydrocorydaline and coptisine were characterized as cytotoxic principles from the tub er of Corydalis turtshnninovii f. yanhusuo. On the other hand, dehydro costus lactone and costunolide demonstrated cytotoxicity from the root of Saussurea lappa. Their structures were elucidated by spectral anal yses.
