The growth of mixed crystals of barium lead borate using slow evaporation t
echnique is reported for the first time. Good quality crystals up to a size
of 15 mm x 10 mm x 1 mm are obtained. These crystals show good second harm
onic generation (SHG) efficiency. Single crystals of barium lead borate is
a promising nonlinear optical crystal which can be possibly used for fabric
ation of photonic devices. The grown crystals are characterized by employin
g UV-VIS spectrum, powder XRD, AAS and microhardness measurements. SHG effi
ciency is measured from Kurtz's powder technique using Nd-YAG laser. (C) 20
