This paper provides simple analytical correlations fbr selected thermo
dynamic and fluid transport properties for the mixture dry air and wat
er vapor. These correlations are derived from theory as well as from n
umerical fitting procedures and give expressions for density rho, visc
osity mu, thermal conductivity k, specific heat c(p), and Prandtl numb
er Pr at a working pressure of p = 1 bar and for a temperature range f
rom 100 degrees C to 200 degrees C. The main purpose is to present a c
omparatively simple set of equations, as the correlations do not refle
ct in every case the underlying physical background. Since experimenta
l data are scarce for the properties under investigation, it was in so
me cases necessary to extrapolate the available correlations to temper
atures or water vapor contents where no experimental data could be fou
nd. The derived equations are compared with the pure component values
for dry air and water vapor and, as far as possible, also for air-wate
r vapor mixtures. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics and American
