Abstract
Electronic and magnetic states of CeCo5-xBx are studied element-specificall y by means of high-resolution bulk-sensitive resonant photoemission spectro scopy (RPES) and soft X-ray absorption magnetic circular dichroism (MCD). J udging from MCD of the ferromagnetic CeCo5, the spins of Ce 4f and Co 3d el ectrons couple antiferromagnetically with each other. RPES spectra show tha t the Ce 4f states are itinerant and form strongly mixed bands with the Co 3d states. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
