Abstract
We report on magnetic and transport properties of Co/Ir sandwiches and mult ilayers prepared by ion beam sputtering (IBS). The maximum GMR and coupling strength are about 2% and -0.55 erg/cm(2), respectively. This coupling is found to be homogeneous and to have a biquadratic nature instead of the ant iferromagnetic one, usually observed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All ri ghts reserved.
