Sy. Hong et al., Effect of the Cr75Ti25 intermediate layer on magnetic and recording properties in CoCrPt longitudinal recording media, J MAGN MAGN, 226, 2001, pp. 2056-2058
Effects of the Cr75Ti25 intermediate layer on the magnetic and recording pr
operties in CoCrPt/CoTi longitudinal recording media were investigated. Coe
rcivity increased from 2100 to 3200 Oe by incorporating the 50 nm thick Cr7
5Ti25 intermediate layer between the CoCrPt magnetic layer and the CoTi und
erlayer. Improved SNR and PW50 properties were obtained compared to the med
ia that had pure Cr intermediate layer. This enhancement of the coercivity
and improvement of SNR and PW50 can be attributed to the increase of magnet
ic decoupling effects through the Cr segregation at the grain boundaries of
the magnetic layer. (C) 2001 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
