A new method of measurement for residual gas density in the vacuum chambers
in presence of synchrotron radiation (SR) is described. The method is base
d on using a photomultiplier tube for the detection or the SR-stimulated re
sidual gas luminescence, which is proportional to the residual gas density
and SR intensity. The design of the experimental setup and results of the m
easurements of densities of residual gases (H-2, CO2, CO, N-2, Ar and O-2)
