For the purpose of analytical testing of the experimental SRXRF station at
the VEPP-3 SR source together with the methods applied for spectrum process
ing, an elemental analysis of a set of objects of different nature was carr
ied out for different primary excitation energies in the range from 15 to 4
5 keV. There were measured the reference samples of geological, soil, marin
e products, blood and hair as well as synthetic thin films containing compo
sitions from the pair of chemical elements. The mass of the samples was var
ied from 30 mg to several tens of micrograms. The data obtained (detection
limits and reproducibility) at the different excitation energies for the sa
me set of samples and different elements are discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevier S
